🏗️ Rising Wages is Accelerating the Adoption of Robotics in India's Construction Industry
Centre increases minimum wage rates for workers.
The recent increase in minimum wage rates for workers in India, which is expected to have significant implications for various sectors, including the construction industry. Under the new revision for Area "A," the minimum wage for unskilled workers in sectors such as construction and cleaning will be Rs 783 per day, amounting to Rs 20,358 per month. For Semi-skilled workers it will be Rs 868 per day, or Rs 22,568 per month, while skilled and clerical workers wages will be Rs 954 per day, translating to Rs 24,804 per month effective from 1st October 2024.

India is increasingly adopting construction robots as part of its strategy to enhance efficiency and address labor challenges in the industry. This trend is driven by several factors, including rising labor costs, the need for increased productivity, and advancements in robotic technology. Government is expected to invest over $13 billion in robotics to enhance construction efficiency. Various types of robots, for use cases such as material movement, painting, wall finishing, tile fixing etc are being employed to meet the increasing demand for on time construction.

An AI Solution for Bengaluru’s Potholes Problem
Residents of Bengaluru had been grappling with a significant pothole crisis, worsened by the monsoon season. The Silicon Valley of India came with a smart AI solution for solving the pothole issue in the city by introducing a new app called 'Raste Gundi Gamana', which allows residents to report potholes by uploading the pictures of potholes, facilitating quicker responses from the civic body and enhancing accountability in road maintenance. Additionally, the BBMP plans to deploy 15 vehicles equipped with AI-enabled cameras that will autonomously detect potholes and other road hazards, further integrating technology into urban infrastructure management.
